How many times have you said to yourself, I sure wish I had a camera to get a picture of this?

My name is Frank Bard. I'm currently sixty two years old. As far back as I can remember I've always loved the outdoors. At about the age of twelve, I started hunting small game. Although I can honestly say I love animals, hunting was a way of life for me back then. There were nine children in our rural Champaign County, Ohio family, and believe me, we consumed every ounce of the meat I harvested.

Now that I'm an adult, I still live in northeast Champaign County, near North Lewisburg, Ohio, on an eighty acre private nature preserve created by my wife Jill and I with help from U.S. Department of Agriculture agencies and ODNR Division of Forestry and Division of Wildlife. We call it Pleasant Run Prairie. I no longer hunt small game but have never lost my passion for the outdoors and the sport of hunting. About forty years ago I took up bow hunting for whitetail deer. That has been my way of getting my fix every since.

In 2005 I did something that I'd been contemplating for a long time. I purchased a high quality digital camera with all the bells and whistles and took up the sport of wildlife photography. Unlike the hunting I'm used to, whenever I go out to take wildlife photos, it's almost always nonstop action. Since I'm out there to take pictures of just anything that is considered wildlife such as birds, deer, wild turkeys, waterfowl, and insects, just to mention a few, I keep busy, and really enjoy doing it.

I put this website together to share with you, some of my favorite wildlife photos I've taken so far. Remember, all of these pictures have been taken right here in Champaign County, Ohio and most of them at Pleasant Run Prairie. Feel free to e-mail me with any feedback or comments.

I'm always on the lookout for new places to take interesting pictures of different species of Ohio wildlife. This year, one of my main goals is to get pictures of some baby animals such as foxes, coyotes, groundhogs, skunks, coons, fawns, you get the picture, just anything that's cute. If you have any of these creatures on your property and would be willing to let me photograph them and share them on this web site, please contact me at the phone number or e-mail address listed on this site.
